Petey

Petey was dumped after apparently not acting tough enough for a fighting dog at 8 weeks old.

He had numerous cuts and wounds all around his head and face and since he was mistreated during that very critical imprinting phase, he had deep emotional scars as well and he carried them ever so slightly with him throughout his life. We were never able to touch his head without him flinching for example.

But what a character he was. Full of energy and as smart as a whip.

Petey just loved to live life to the fullest. He was a true athlete, running daily alongside the bicycle, absolutely crazy about swimming and running and playing seemingly without ever getting tired.

But he was also a lovebug and enjoyed to just hang out, relax and snuggle with us.

He could have also been a model, every time I took the camera, it seemed like he would strike the perfect pose.

He absolutely adored people and would practically knock you over just to say hello. What a fun loving boy he was.

Nothing could get his spirit down even after he was diagnosed with lung cancer and given only a few weeks if not days to live, he surprised everybody by just continuing to go strong and happy for more than one year without hardly even slowing down.

We’ll always remember his wiggly butt when he greeted people full of enthusiasm and his never wavering joy for life all the way to the end.
