Daisy

Daisy was rescued when someone found her tied up on the roof of an abandoned building without food, water or shelter and so emaciated that it was a miracle she was still alive.

She was about 5 years old when she came to us as a foster dog. She had never gotten anything positive from humans before but that did not keep her from just loving people anyway.

After she got the much needed proper nourishment and TLC she was ready for her forever home. But a little setback with a pretty rare disease made it very difficult to find a home for her. She was diagnosed with diabetes insipidus,- which has nothing to do with blood sugar, but is rather the inability to concentrate urine. Which pretty much meant she was not able to go for more than a few hours without having to pee.

It took a lot of time to even find out what the problem was in the first place and then to get her the treatment she needed.

After lots of research we were able to get her on a drug that actually helped to control the problem.

Unfortunately it is a rather expensive drug and she had to be on it for the rest of her life. Not a good thing when you are trying to find a permanent home.

She was with us for more than 8 months without any luck finding anybody interested in adopting her.

Of course during that time she had settled in nicely at our home already. So when Christmas came around we decided that considering her age, she was already about 6 years old by then, we could not let her spend another Christmas without a family to call her own, so we adopted her.

Daisy was a true snuggle bunny. She just loved to snuggle and cuddle, preferably all day long.

And even though she did not like cats at all when she first came to us, she learned to live peacefully with our kitties and even let them snuggle up to her.

Daisy passed away after sudden cardiac arrest at the age of 10.

We will always remember those big smiles on her face. What a sweet snuggle bunny she was.

Daisy just after she came to us.

Daisy after 6 months.
